About Kerb Memorials

Kerb memorials (also called kerbed memorials or full grave kerb sets) surround the plot with granite kerbs and usually include a headstone. That gives more stone for inscriptions, chippings and flowers than a lawn headstone alone. Black, grey, green and other granite colours are shown with prices in the collection on this page.

Not every burial ground allows a full kerb set. Many modern lawn sections only permit an upright headstone. We start with the cemetery name, including plots in London, Sheffield and Essex, and we do not promise kerbs until that is clearer. Where a smaller enclosed memorial is more likely to be accepted, see our garden kerb sets. Installations follow NAMM membership and BRAMM-aligned fixing, and remain subject to cemetery approval.

The first inscription is set out with the design. Later names can often be added to a kerb or headstone, still with cemetery permission. Wording ideas are in our inscription library. Photo plaques and granite vases can be considered where the burial ground allows them. We also renovate and clean existing kerb memorials.   • What a kerb memorial is

    A kerb memorial, or full grave kerb set, usually combines a headstone with granite kerbs that enclose the plot. That gives more stone for inscriptions, chippings or planting, and a defined space for flowers.

  • Not every cemetery allows kerbs

    Many lawn sections only permit an upright headstone. Churchyards and older sections may allow a full kerb set. We check what is typically permitted before a design is finalised, and we do not promise kerbs until that is clearer.

  • Wording on a kerb set

    The headstone usually carries the name and dates. Kerbs can take extra lines, later names or a verse where the cemetery allows it. Additional inscriptions later still often need permission.

What is a kerb memorial or full grave kerb set?

A kerb memorial typically includes a headstone and granite kerb stones that enclose the grave. That creates a defined plot for inscriptions, floral displays and, where allowed, chippings or planting. It is a larger memorial than a lawn headstone, which sits only at the head of the grave.

Are kerb memorials allowed in every cemetery?

No. Many lawn cemeteries do not allow full kerb surrounds. Some older sections, churchyards and private burial grounds do. Tell us the cemetery and the section if you know it before choosing a kerb set. Designs remain subject to cemetery approval.

What is the difference between a kerb memorial and a lawn headstone?

A lawn headstone is an upright stone on a base at the head of a lawn grave. A kerb memorial adds kerbs around the plot. If the cemetery only allows lawn memorials, we will say so and point you to the lawn collection rather than selling a kerb set that is unlikely to be permitted.

How are kerb memorials priced?

Price depends on size, granite colour, carving, lettering and extras such as vases or photo plaques. Each design in this collection shows its price. We confirm a written quotation once we know the cemetery section and the specification.

Can inscriptions go on the kerbs as well as the headstone?

Often yes, where the cemetery drawing allows it. Kerbs are commonly used for extra lines, later names or a verse. Additional inscriptions after installation usually still need cemetery permission, even when the stone is already in place.

How long does a kerb memorial take?

Lead times depend on the memorial and material. As a guide, most standard made-to-order memorials take around 20–24 weeks from deposit and confirmed payment. More elaborate kerb sets can take longer. Stock pieces already in the UK are often ready in around 8–10 weeks. We confirm the timeframe on your quotation. Installation follows cemetery approval.

Do you supply kerb memorials in London and Sheffield?

Yes. London families can visit our Muswell Hill showroom by appointment. Sheffield and South Yorkshire are served by our North Hub. Essex memorials are arranged from the London workshop. In every case we start with the cemetery name, because kerb permission varies so widely.
