About Headstones & Lawn Memorials
Lawn headstones (also called lawn memorials) are the upright granite memorials most often used on lawn graves in UK cemeteries. A typical design is a headstone on a base, without a full kerb surround, in traditional ogee, modern square, heart or book shapes. Black granite, grey granite and other colours are shown with prices in the collection on this page.
Cemetery rules decide what can be installed. Lawn sections commonly limit height and may not allow kerbs, vases or certain ornamentation. We start with the cemetery name, including lawn sections in London, Sheffield and Essex, and we do not promise a memorial type until that is clearer. Installations follow NAMM membership and BRAMM-aligned fixing, and remain subject to cemetery approval.
The first inscription is set out with the design. Later you may need an added inscription or matching lettering. Short wording ideas are in our inscription library. Photo plaques and granite vases can be considered where the burial ground allows them. Visit the Muswell Hill showroom by appointment, or enquire with the cemetery name if you have it.

What a lawn headstone is
A lawn memorial is usually an upright granite headstone on a base, set on a lawn grave. It does not enclose the plot with kerbs. That is why many modern cemetery lawn sections allow this style when a full kerb set would not be permitted.
Cemetery rules come first
Height, width, vase holes and ornamentation vary by burial ground and often by section. We check what is typically allowed before a design is finalised. Nothing here is a promise that a particular shape will be approved.
Wording on the stone
Name, dates and a short line are the usual layout. Additional inscriptions later, matching lettering and photo plaques can be considered where the cemetery allows them.

Often yes, using a ceramic or granite photo plaque, where the cemetery allows it. Size and position have to fit the stone and the permit. Send a photograph of an existing memorial if you are adding to a stone that is already in place.

Yes. London families can visit our Muswell Hill showroom by appointment. Sheffield and South Yorkshire are served by our North Hub. Essex memorials are arranged from the London workshop. In every case we start with the cemetery name.
